Hosting a Bar Mitzvah

Ironically, the party that follows the bar mitzvah usually gets more attention than the actual ceremony itself. It's actually a part of Jewish tradition that the child who is having the bar mitzvah host a party or festival afterwards. Recently though these festivals have become quite impressive and sometimes it seems that one parent is trying to outdo another. However, even though both children and parents have social pressures and want to please their guests it's important to remember what is the real point of the party.
Here are some tips to throw a great party without exaggerating. Start by speaking to your son or daughter for whom the party will be, speak about what each of you want and set a budget together. It's not a bad idea to have your child do some volunteer work before the party that will help him or her gain a better sense of responsibility. When it comes to doing the work to setting up the party, get everyone involved, they will have fun and no one is going to get stuck doing all the work. This means giving the right responsibilities to your child as well and making sure that he or she greets and spends time with all the guests.
